Dr. Khalil Graham begins his tenure as principal of Tech Prep’s STEM middle school campus, serving over 250 students and 20 faculty and staff members. Beginning in 2014, Dr. Graham served as the founding College Prep principal with IDEA Walzem in San Antonio, Texas, which serves more than 500 students in sixth through ninth grades. IDEA Public Schools, the home district for IDEA Walzem, was awarded the 2016 Broad Prize as the most outstanding charter school network in the country. In May 2013, Dr. Graham became one of the youngest people to earn a doctorate in educational leadership studies at the University of Kentucky, with a focus on urban education leadership. That same month, he became a campus instructional leader with YES Prep Public Schools, serving as a curriculum manager, manager of instructional staff, and director of data analysis for systemwide and state exams. Previously, he served as an Educational Leadership instructor at UK and as a senior associate with Students First in Sacramento, Calif., in charge of strategic planning. Previously, he served in various teaching and coaching roles in New York City, Richmond, Va., and New Haven and Bridgeport, Conn. Dr. Graham also holds a Master of Arts in teaching from Sacred Heart University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with an interdisciplinary focus in urban policy and practice, sociology and African American history from the University of Richmond.
