Early Childhood scholars (PK-3-K) will receive COVID-19 antigen rapid tests every Friday. Parents please administer a test on Sunday evening and upload results to bit.ly/fpcscovid prior to the child’s return to school on the following Monday. Please Note: If a student receives a positive result, the student must quarantine for 10 calendar days.

Pre-K to 12th grade hubs will offer 4-day weekly schedules. Families can opt to remain in virtual learning from home.
The Mayor officially announced today that the District’s public schools will bring more students back into school buildings for in-person support in early November. For the past several weeks, on five FPCS school sites, we have provided in-person Learning Hubs for a limited number of students with parents who are essential workers and who have critical learning needs. Since opening our Learning Hubs – operated in full compliance with health, safety and social-distancing guidelines – we have grown a waitlist of families and staff interested in joining an in-person hub.
In response to the demand for more safe, structured and staffed in-person learning opportunities, Friendship will offer Learning Hubs on every elementary, middle and high school campus starting November 9. If you are interested in a Learning Hub spot for your child, complete our Learning Hub Registration Survey by October 14. Families who want their child to remain in virtual learning at home can continue to do so.
Learning Hub students in prekindergarten through 12th grade will receive in person, on campus instructional support four (4) days a week and with one (1) day of virtual learning at home. While on campus, all Learning Hub students will engage in virtual lessons along with their peers at home. In the days ahead, we will provide additional details on Learning Hub weekly schedules by grade level.
Keeping our school community healthy and safe is a top priority.

Campus Safety Preparedness
While we’ll start the school year largely virtual, we’re preparing for your safe return to school buildings. Check out our FPCS Safety Preparedness Video to learn more about our plan to open safe and open smart! Your health and safety is our priority!

Guided by our commitment to your health and safety, and our promise to deliver an exceptional learning experience, Friendship will extend its virtual start of school until at least November 6. The first day of school remains August 31. We’ve been collecting information from our parents who have expressed a need for an in-person school option. To meet this need, we will offer in-person instructional support through “learning hubs” located on designated Friendship campuses. The learning hubs will be staffed by Friendship team members who opt to support this school option. Please look out for a staff interest survey in the next few days. Additionally, we will frequently assess the District’s health metrics and other conditions to inform our planning and eventual return to school buildings.
It is important you know how deeply we appreciate your continued feedback. Our conversations through surveys, webinars and individual discussions have not only raised important questions, they affirm what we know all too well – our students, families and staff are the ties that bind our learning community. Every step of the way, we need to hear your observations, concerns, ideas and input. Please continue to contact us at WeCare@friendshipschools.org or 202.281.1777.
