Community Eligibility Provision Statement
All Friendship Public Charter School scholars will be able to eat both breakfast and lunch at school for free, regardless of family income. Friendship Public Charter Schools is participating in the Department of Agriculture's "Community Eligibility Provision," which allows the district to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students without requiring households to complete a meal application each year.
These changes mean that families will save money and all students will have access to nutritious meals. Plus, lines will be shorter and students will have more time to enjoy their food.
Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Program
Friendship Public Charter School scholars are also eligible for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). FFVP can be an important tool in our efforts to combat childhood obesity. The Program has been successful in introducing school children to a variety of produce that they otherwise might not have the opportunity to sample. FFVP is consistent with and supports the Institute of Medicine’s recommendations to provide healthier snack choices in schools.
