Jeffrey Scanlon 
Principal at Friendship Armstrong

Jeffrey Scanlon was named Principal in 2015. He has sixteen years of educational experience with seven years as an instructional leader. Upon graduating from Buffalo State College, he began his teaching career as a sixth grade math and science teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. After moving to the DC area in 2004, he had the opportunity to teach fifth grade language arts and social studies before accepting the role of mathematics instructional specialist at Hybla Valley Elementary School in Fairfax County, Virginia. While working at Hybla Valley, he attended George Mason University and earned a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. He was an assistant principal in DC for 4 years, prior to becoming Academy Director at Friendship Woodbridge Middle School, which received Tier 1 school status during his time there.
 
 

Dr. Jeffrey Grant
Principal at Friendship Blow Pierce

Dr. Jeffrey Grant was named Principal in July 2013. Previously, he served as Principal and Director of Parent and Family Engagement at DC Public Schools. Dr. Grant has over a decade of experience teaching in DC schools and was named Teacher of the Year in 2005 by Junior Achievement of the National Capital Area. He holds a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Policy Studies and a Masters in Education Technology Leadership from George Washington University, as well as a Bachelors in Political Science from the University of the District of Columbia.
 
 

Morrise Harbour
Principal at Friendship Chamberlain

Morrise Harbour was named Principal in November 2011. With over seven years of experience teaching math in New York and Maryland schools, Mr. Harbour previously served as an Assistant Principal for DC Public Schools and Friendship Public Charter School. Mr. Harbour holds a Masters in Education from Saint John’s University and a B.S. in Psychology from Sacred Heart University. He also holds a license in Administration and Supervision for grades PreK-12. Mr. Harbour is a panelist on the Middle States Commission on Elementary School Accreditation.

David Lawery 
Principal at Friendship Southeast Academy

David Lawery has been in the field of education for over 13 years. He is a graduate of Florida A&M University and University of Maryland, College Park, receiving both Bachelors and Masters in English Education and Curriculum and Instruction, respectively. His teaching experience includes having taught English at Friendship Blow Pierce Junior Academy and Wellington Community High School in Wellington, Florida. For four years, Mr. Lawery was an Instructional Specialist at Friendship Woodridge Elementary and Junior Academy and Blow Pierce Elementary and Junior Academy advancing their literacy programs. In addition, he has served as International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator at Friendship Woodridge leading their push as an IB World School. Mr. Lawery has also served as academy director at Friendship Woodridge Junior Academy. As highlighted, his educational career spans elementary, middle and high schools.

 

In 2015, Mr. Lawery assumed the position as principal of Friendship Southeast Elementary Academy.  Mr. Lawery states that his main goal is to ensure that every scholar is provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe and supportive learning environment.  It is a goal to which he has dedicated his entire professional career and will continue at Southeast Elementary Academy. Working together as a team with staff and parents, Mr. Lawery is committed to helping each scholar achieve their very best.  Every scholar is valued and worthy of this best effort.



 

Felicia Owo
Principal at Friendship Woodridge International

Felicia Owo was named Principal of Friendship Woodridge International School in June 2016. Previously, she served as Principal for DC Public Schools and an Assistant Principal for Friendship Public Charter Schools. Ms. Owo began her career in education as an elementary teacher for Prince George’s County Public Schools. During her time as Assistant Principal at Friendship Woodridge, the school received high performing Tier 1 status designated by the DC Public Charter School Board as well as International Baccalaureate authorization for the Primary Years Programme. Honoring her successes, Ms. Owo was awarded the 2015 NAEYC Diane Trister Dodge Scholarship Award for Emerging Leaders. Ms. Owo holds a Masters of Science degree in Educational Administration from Trinity Washington University, a Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University, and Bachelors of Science degrees in Psychology and Biology from the University of Texas at Austin.
