Compensation and Benefits
Our benefits package is designed to make our employees’ lives easier, so they can focus on what’s important: our mission to provide a world-class education to our scholars. Our teacher compensation is highly-competitive with local and national charter schools and District of Columbia Public Schools. Starting in the 2017-2018 school year, all newly hired Mathematics, Science, or Special Education FPCS instructional staff will receive a stipend in the amount of $3,500, paid throughout the 2017-2018 school year for teaching in a high need subjects.
We offer multiple options for comprehensive health insurance through CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, including enrollment in our prescription drug program. Employees additionally have multiple dental benefit options through MetLife, and a vision insurance option.
Employees may contribute to a 403(b) retirement fund managed by Lincoln Financial Group. After one year, Friendship offers a matching your contribution.
Flexible Spending Account
Employees may enroll in a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account. This account allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for dependent care expenses. IRS allows up to $5,000 per calendar year per family.
Life & Disability Insurance
Eligible staff members are offered up to $50,000 of life insurance guarantee. Additionally, Friendship offers long-term and short-term disability insurance at no charge to employees.
Paid Time Off
Friendship provides both 10 and 12-month employees with a generous amount of paid time off. Eligible employees may receive Friendship PCS winter, spring, and summer vacations, and personal and vacation days.
Employees are provided with laptops for professional use.
Teachers at Friendship who are paying off federal student loans may qualify for loan forgiveness on Stafford loans or to have Perkins loans cancelled. And employees of Friendship PCS are eligible to join the DC Teachers Federal Credit Union, which offers free checking, lower rates, and fewer fees.
Employees are eligible for to contribute money pre-tax towards metro and parking.
Friendship employees are eligible to receive a variety of services through our Employee Assistance Partner, Inova. Employees receive access to confidential counseling, legal services, financial services, and more.
Teachers receive stipends for coordinating after school activities and generous compensation for Summer School teaching, in addition to their regular salary.
