Friendship really impressed the Cherry Hill parents and community members. Principal, Tracey Garrett noted, “Friendship talked about a strong behavioral component, improving school culture and all of the professional development teachers would receive. We knew that partnering with Friendship would take our vision to the next level.” Much of last year was spent restructuring staff to ensure that each employee showed unwavering commitment to effective education. “I observed how teachers ‘treat’ kids. If we don’t treat students like ‘they are somebody’ and they are getting the same disregard at home, we could lose them. The person teaching is important,” Garrett said. “I remember every one of my teachers by name and grade.
